CrossRoads 2

NL – CrossRoads – CrossRoads 2 aims to stimulate sustainable cross-border cooperation on promising innovation projects of KMO/MKB businesses in Flanders and the southern Netherlands. One of these innovation projects is Car-sensor Enhanced Mobility and Safety System (CEMSS), a collaboration between Beijer Automotive in Schijndel (NL) and Be-Mobile in Melle (BE).

Potential applications mobility data

A first in-car application is the designing of a ‘Driver alertness warning system’: By means of measuring the steering-wheel displacement, we can determine whether a driver is actively driving or that he is occupied with something else (smartphone?). A warning could be directly given to the smartphone of the driver, through for example Bluetooth.
A second group of applications are weather warnings. The use of the windscreen wipers could for example be transferred to the cloud, after which this can be shown as a weather warning through for example an app such as Flitsmeister.
The CEMSS project is financially supported by the European Regional Development Fund. More information: www.grensregio.eu
